Ford took home 6 prizes, including top Overall Loyalty to Make and Overall Loyalty to Manufacturer awards


Ford inspires the most customer loyalty in the United States and was recognized as such this week in Detroit by automotive research firm Polk.

The Blue Oval won six of the 16 awards on offer at the annual Polk Loyalty Awards, Polk revealed January 11, including the top Overall Loyalty to Make and Overall Loyalty to Manufacturer awards.

The awards are calculated by tracking consumer loyalty, defined as when a household that owns a new vehicle returns to the market and purchases or leases another new vehicle of the same model or make, through the year.

Several of Ford's models --  the F-Series pickup, Ford Escape and Lincoln MKZ -- also picked up gongs, and the firm was recognized for its ability to retain the loyalty of buyers of African-American decent.

Honda was the brand most able to hang on to Hispanic buyers, Polk said, while Toyota was top in terms of Asian loyalty.

Ford's rival Chrysler picked up an award for the minivan segment with its Chrysler Town & Country, while the Porsche 911 proved most likely to win sports car buyers back and the Lincoln MKZ garnered the most loyalty in the luxury car category.

Jeep won the award for the Most Improved Loyalty to Make, largely thanks to the strength of the new Grand Cherokee, Polk said.
